I'd rather get 6+years from Murray/dumba/Reinhart/gally and continue rebuilding than trade assets for a player who will most likely walk when he gets the chance on 2-4 years

Bingo, until the Isles are a strong team that UFA players want to sign with, they should build through the draft IMO

They will never be a strong team solely building through the draft. You need to add through FA and trades to your youth. It will be a never ending revolving door of kids being rushed and other prospects not working out and of course the few that do, you need veteran leadership to show these kids the way and i don't mean Brian Rolston and Jay Pandalfo. You can't rely only on drafting, I'm sure we will prove that again this year.

The isles have enough prospects that now is the time. It's one pick......and it's the only way to land talent. Hamonic is arguably our best dman, and he wasn't a first round pick. There's plenty of talent outside the first round.
